How are parts taken off stock qty when rejected and dmr created

How are parts taken off stock qty when parts are rejected and DMR created. QA rejected parts and created DMR but when you go in and look in transaction history, transact qty shows but running total stays the same? Should the DMR qty not come off?

Hi Carole,

The inventory should be modified on the first transaction from stock to QA as this is when it is pulled off the stock status report. At that point, it goes to the QA inventory (see part tracker, part locations tab) which is a special quality system location isolated from the rest. When you fail it via QA and move it to DMR it moves that quantity with it but remains outside the stock status report. If you pass or accept it back to stock, it will transact back in inventory. If you reject it from DMR, it will move the cost to the designated expense account.

There are variations as the QA system has a lot of flexibility.

So, the stock quantity should get reduced in the original transaction and not in the DMR transaction.

Thank you.

Carole, I believe the bin used can play a role here also. Most companies setup a QA HOLD “quarantine” bin that is non-nettable and does not show as in inventory.
