How to complete/close a job

Did this actually work for you?  because if you used the Receipt to Inventory this is essentially the same as Auto receive?

I am trying to learn how jobs work having some trouble figuring out how to complete and close a job and have the job part move into stock in a warehouse.

I have made a job to produce a part, added some material and an operation to it. Move the material from stock to the job and added some labour time to the operation. When I try to complete/close the job I get a message that says the complete qty is less than the planned production qty. I get a similar message if I try to receipt from the job to inventory.

I seem to need to tell Epicor that we have made the parts but I don’t know how to do that?

Thanks

Brett

You need to report quantity on the final operation to have a completed qty show in job tracker. Epicor defaults to the last operation, unless another is marked the final operation. Quantities can be done when an operation is completed or thru report quantity in mes.

On the final operation (or operation of your choice) there are boxes for final operation and auto receipt to inventory.  If you check these, when you enter your quantity complete the parts will show on hand - if they are quantity bearing.
If you don't tick the auto receipt box then you will need to run the Job Receipt to Inventory option in General Operations under the Inventory Management menu.

also to complete/close a job......under Job Management (Gen Ops) select Job Closing - two separate tick boxes for each task.  This essentially sets dates, the actual completion of subassemblies/operations depends on your MOM setup.

Sorry I just re-read your question.  There are two ways to tell Epicor you have physically made something, either by using MES (shop floor control system) or by using Time and Expense Entry from the Job Management menu (Gen Ops)....... but your MOM needs to be setup, ie the Labor Entry needs to be Qty Only or Time and Qty.  Essentially you need (or your mfg people) to tell Epicor you have made one.
Thanks for the help. turns out I didn't have the operation set to 'Final Operation' and the auto receive was not on.
