I think you are asking how can I make an ssrs report format better when you use the Excel format option?
If that’s the case then you need to take a copy of the existing report and modify it so that none of the columns and headers overlap. Dynamic BAQ reports are really good for this, if you want to quickly run up baq data into a report format.

Adding a Table Matrix in SSRS also works really well if you are doing a RDD or a BAQ Report.

I have used .csv in the past instead of the Excel because of the formatting issues. You will need to delete some unneeded columns that are created but once you’ve done that the data comes manageable.
