We have a configurable part, BASE. In PROD, we have Rev A and Rev B. We now want to create Rev C and make some changes.
In TEST, I have created Rev C, updated the BOM (it’s 100+ lines) and updated the rule sets related to the affected parts. All seems to be working just fine. All the rule-set work was done manually and I really do not want to have it do so again. All the testing was done on a copy of BASE, BASE2.
When I tried to test BASE Rev C (still in TEST), I could not get the updated rule set to apply to it.
Here is what I did:
- Created BASE Rev C - associated it with the configurator.
- Used Get Details from BASE Rev B for ops and materials (maybe this was wrong?)
The configurator is using the Rev B rule set instead of the Rev C rule set. Interestingly, the Rev C input logic IS being used, but not the method rules.
The Configurator course and the Technical Reference state that “if the configuratorID is the same for both revisions then the rules are copied” but that does not appear to have happened.
Is there a specific order in which the steps must be exceuted? Or must all rule sets be updated in PROD?
Should I create Rev C with no MOM and attach it to the configurator? Then update the materials and operations via DMT?
Trying to see if there some answer that does not involve doing the rules manually again.
Thanks.
