Indirect Labor GL Controls (9.05.606A)

Hi Chris/Dawn,

Thanks for your help.

I made the change to the posting rules in our test database and that achieves exactly what we want.

Out of interest, I know Indirect Labor postings are on the Inv/Wip Rec Report in 607, will the unposted indirect transactions still be on the report after the posting rules change?

Regards,

Darryn

Hi,

When we were on Vantage 6.1 and 9.04 Indirect Labor wasn't an issue to us as it didn't get posted anywhere. However since going to 9.05 Indirect Labor now gets posted to the GL. We have set up the GL Controls on the Indirect Labour Accounts but when we run a Capture COS/WIP nothing happens. If we remove the GL Controls and run a Capture COS/WIP the Indirect Labor does get posted but to our default Labor accounts.

Are we missing something? There is a tick box within the Indirect Labour Accounts set up list view for 'Post Costs' but this also does nothing when posting!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Darryn
We just discovered the exact same thing. We found that you do not see it on the inventory WIP/Reconciliation because the indirect labor does not relate to a job or inventory related transactions. The only way to see at least the hours is to run a Labor edit report. Running the labor edit report, you can take the hours and then multiply by the labor dollars assigned to that employee to get the cost that would be booking to the GL.

Hope this helps,

Hi Deirdre,

Thanks for your reply.

What we do at the moment each month is work out the difference and then manually journal the amount out of the GL Accounts. What we were hoping we could do was set up the Indirect Labor GL Controls so the costs credit and debit the same account removing the need for a manual journal each month.

Regards,

Darryn

We change the posting engine to not post Indirect Labor by copying the
standard revision, changing the "If Transaction Value = 0" to "... >= 0 ...
"End Rule". Then activiating the new revision. And we redo this on every
upgrade.
