Installing XL Connect 6 in modern environment

Hi,

I’m attempting to set up a new installation of XL Connect 6 in a testing environment - however, I’m running into a permissions error when attempting to deploy Meta Data Content.

Connection was validated on all previous steps.

I suspect this is due to incompatibility between XL Connect 6 (version 2.0.6.0) and the environment. Relevant program versions are:

MS Server 2022
SQL Server 2022
Epicor 2024.1.8

None of these versions are listed as compatible on the installation document, probably because they didn’t exist at the time of writing.

Does anyone have any experience running XL Connect 6 on an environment this updated?

Possibly, but the installation has always been a giant pain… I believe we were on SQL Server 2019 by the time we got rid of it, so would be surprised if the jump from 2019 to 2022 “broke” it…

Have you verified that the SQL login does indeed have SysAdmin privileges?

It’s referencing a windows account, but that windows account is set up in the SQL server and does have sysadmin privileges.

Grasping at straws here, but is it an admin on the Windows server too?

Yup – tried running the installer As Administrator too just in case.

Not sure if you solved this yet but we also had a problem with Windows based accounts. I set up a SQL account and used that instead.

Epicor Support was able to solve it, but that’s good to know for the future! Thanks!

Thanks for following up for others that may need the help with it!
