Inventory by warehouse

Is there a way to check stock by warehouse with a minimum of effort? Part
tracker displays total inventory. We quoted a customer a part we didn't
have. It is in our UK inventory, which makes it tough to ship NDA to Ohio.
Apparently, MRP is also checking all inventory. Is there a way to isolate
the default inventory. Most of our readily available stock is at the
factory in Ohio.

Mitchell:

In part tracker there is a button called part advisor-it shows current
inventory of that part, by warehouse and lot. Also, you can click the
"Lots" button and it shows the same breakdown.

For the bigger picture, you can run the stock status report (under
inventory, reports), choose the warehouse in the UK and have a hard copy of
everything there-which will change in five minutes after you print the
report.

Thanks, but I am trying to cut down on the number of screens you have to go
through. Many of our customers check stock on the phone for our standard
product line. Part tracker to part advisor to details to the final screen
is just too many clicks. Particularly if you are checking stock on several
items.

Is there a way to change the default display on the part tracker to
Availability (warehouse) rather than (all plants)?

How do I get MRP to look at only the default warehouse?

Don't they still have the Locations button in Part Tracker? (I'm one of
those slackers still on 3.0, so I don't remember if they have done something
with that button.)

I have seen a slowdown in Vantage "login" times after installing Norton AV
2000 and have been playing around with the exclusion list so Norton will not
scan the Vantage files during a login attempt. I have made some progress on
this by excluding the vantage link file. I would be interested to see what
files others are excluding to speed up Vantage.

Thanks

It has been a subject on this list before. I think one of the things you
can do is make sure you are not scanning Incoming and Outgoing files...Try
just Incoming Files.

I ended up disabling real-time protection on some of my client machines because it slowed down Vantage so much. I schedule a scan of their computer at least once a day to make up for it and I told them that during the scan they're just going to have to live with the slow down.

Of course our network cabling and hubs need an upgrade badly!

I noticed the biggest improvement when I told the Norton Antivirus software
to exclude the entire V (Vantage) drive.

Paul,

Set up your anti-virus software on your server to scan all "incoming" files
to the server. Do not scan "outgoing". If all data going into the server
is clean then you can assume all outgoing files are also clean.

For your PC's you can scan all Floppy and CD-ROM traffic and skip "Incoming"
files. We also scan "outgoing" files from the PC since they may be going to
other PC's on the network. If your files were only going to your servers
you would not need to scan them as they leave your PC's since they will be
scanned when they go into your servers.

I have it exclude the entire mapped drive on the Vantage client computers.
Works good.
