JDBC URL syntax for Progress Openedge

You have 2 types of possible connections 4GL and SQL, the ports for
those type of connections are configured via PET (In DB configuration).
As long as SQLSquirrel will use an SQL language (ODBC) to query data you
need to use a port for SQL (ODBC).

Vantage 8.03.407a Progress

Does anyone know the URL syntax when using JDBC to connect to a Progress database?
I managed to connect SQuirreL to Vantage using JDBC. Note that I haven't fully tested the connection though!!

My driver settings are:

Under "Example URL:" I have:
jdbc:datadirect:openedge://myserver:<port>

Under "Extra Class Path" I added in:
\\myserver\epicor\oe101b\java\base.jar
\\myserver\epicor\oe101b\java\util.jar
\\myserver\epicor\oe101b\java\openedge.jar

Under "Class Name" I have:
com.ddtek.jdbc.openedge.OpenEdgeDriver

For the actual URL for the Alias I have (for the Test DB):
jdbc:datadirect:openedge://myserver:8370;DatabaseName=mfgsys

It seems to be working but, as I said, I haven't tested it fully yet.

HTH,

Nigel.

Thanks Nigel, SQuirrelL is what I am trying to configure. I got it working now. One question, I had to use the ODBC port for my database and not the
MfgSys port. Is this because the MfgSys port is only for the Vantage application and all other applications have to come in on the ODBC port?

I managed to connect SQuirreL to Vantage using JDBC.. Note that I haven't fully tested the connection though!!

My driver settings are:

Under "Example URL:" I have:
jdbc:datadirect:openedge://myserver :<port>

Under "Extra Class Path" I added in:
\\myserver\epicor\ oe101b\java\ base.jar
\\myserver\epicor\ oe101b\java\ util.jar
\\myserver\epicor\ oe101b\java\ openedge. jar

Under "Class Name" I have:
com.ddtek.jdbc. openedge. OpenEdgeDriver

For the actual URL for the Alias I have (for the Test DB):
jdbc:datadirect:openedge://myserver :8370;DatabaseNa me=mfgsys

It seems to be working but, as I said, I haven't tested it fully yet.

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Sorry, I'll have to pass on that one.

Anyone else know the answer to this?

Nigel.
