Job Entry/Tracker Operation Tree Descriptions

Hello there,
Anyone know how to change the settings on the operation tree to show the operation description vs what I believe is the code being shown?

Let me know
Thank you!

You’ll need a custom layer… But, in application studio, you need to adjust some properties on the Job Assemblies page.

If you scroll down in the properties, you see a box for “Data Tree”… click in there:

Scroll down in the selection list until you find operation:

Then click “Show Columns”

You can toggle on additional fields to view them in your tree, for example, toggle on OpDesc:

That will change this:

To THIS:

You can also type in “preceding” characters like the below:

And you’ll get something like this:

You can do the same thing with “Assemblies” and “Materials”… so instead of just seeing the PartNun of the assembly and materials, you can also see the part Descriptions.

Thank you so much sir!

Here is a follow up question:

How can the Part/Rev Methods tab data tree be modified similarly?
I have searched all Data Trees that I can find, and I think it may be related to the engineering data view (or entity)

There is a tree in Data Tree > engineering
but no columns are shown there

Empty?

@bconner do you know if we can customize the tree that is embedded in the Engineering menu?

I dug through that form yesterday after I saw your post, but also couldn’t find a way to do it. To be honest, I don’t think I ever used that tab before :person_facepalming:

Its odd because the panel card on that tab is pretty much empty, so whatever they have in there to populate the tree doesn’t seem to be exposed to us in Application Studio.

I even tried adding a layer to my method master tree, thinking perhaps they were calling that in some weird application call… but that didn’t work either. I’ll poke at it some more today if I have time.

Here is how we modified tree options in Classic:

My users are FURIOUS that this cannot be done yet in Kinetic and refuse to go away from classic until these part descriptions are in the tree.

I don’t blame them.
Epicor needs to get their shit together with data trees.
