Chuck,
Does this happen on any machine on your network, or only one or two?
PROWIN32.EXE and PROW32.DLL are both Progress files so it sounds like the
Progress runtime module chokes on something that Vantage doesn't handle
properly. (We can't blame Epicor completely if that's the case; Progress
should have better error handling.)
First thing I would check would be permissions. Can you open the linked
document on that workstation without going through Vantage? If so, then
double-check the link, especially if you use long file names and/or file
names or paths with embedded spaces.
Keep the list posted on your progress!

Subject: [Vantage] Job Update

We have had a persistent problem for about a week now, and have not
been able to get a resolution from support. Every time we try to
update a job we get the message I have listed below. We think it has
to do with document associations, because we are able to update jobs
that do not have a MS Office document associated with the job.

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

PROWIN32 caused an invalid page fault in

We had similar errors, they disappeared after: We increased the size of the
paging file and updated the operating system to whatever current version or
service pack was available.

Chuck,
Did you check the permissions on the file server?
Did you check for embedded spaces in the path and file name?
