Kinetic - Dashboard add Tracker

Where do you start to add fields to a Dashboard tracker in the Kinetic form for beginners? From a basic standpoint, how do you begin adding fields to a Dashboard tracker search in Kinetic? I tried using the links in Application Studio but can’t seem to be linking anything even a simple text box search field.
