There is functionality behind Restrict IP. There is no UI for configuration.
Push Technical Support for the info.
One limitation of the feature is that you cannot have different IP restrictions for different users. You get to set one IP allow list and then that list will apply to any user configured with the Restrict IP setting enabled.
The other limitation is that through version 2023.2, there is no UI or Service to set the allow list. It can only be configured with an SQL query. If you’re Saas, you will have to get Epicor to configure it for you.
Under normal circumstances I would have posted the details here for everyone, but I was specifically asked not to.
Thanks for the info. I opened a ticket with support but the reply I got was “This is only used by internal Cloud team members and not related to Customers.”
I found another case that asked the same thing 8 months ago, KB0135563, and they got directed to the “What’s New in 2023.1” zendesk article. Interestingly, that zendesk article now no longer has the “Restrict IP Addresses” section. Not sure why they changed their mind on this, but this is a bit frustrating.
Thanks for your input. Unfortunately I don’t have the skills/knowledge (yet) to try out your suggestions. My background is in SAP BASIS, but I didn’t have a lot of exposure to the networking side, so I have very little networking skills (I can whitelist an IP in AWS lol). I was also under the impression that being a SaaS customer means firewall and all those networking stuff would be under Epicor’s responsibility.
I was thinking maybe I could go for Epicor IdP and set up MFA devices that would strictly be kept in the factory, but haven’t thought it through yet.
