Is it possible to create a link server in SQL to an Epicor vantage progress database using the Progress SQL Access ODBC Driver
I believe it is possible.
Been a long time since trying. Another round about way would be to create the linked server and then setup a separate dB with sql views created to linked server, then an external an external data source in Epicor to the dB with thatbhas the created views.
What is your end goal here?
The other thing you could do is upgrade that database using the cloud migration tool they have and just put it on another app server and/or just make it a DB that you make an external connection to. If you’re looking for basic master data, it should come through somewhat clean using their cloud migration tool.
This avoids having to keep a progress DB running/vantage which uses operating system at end of life and what not.
