You just need to use the one in the margin:
FYI, it disappears (for me) on the very last reply; you may have to scroll up to the next-to-last one.

Would be nice if the site had a Reply To, and a Reply button next to each other.

I did discover that clicking on these numbers take you either to the top, or bottom, and if the thread is large arrows appear with timestamps

Usually if I’m replying to the POST and not an individual, I click the highlighted reply button at the bottom of the thread:

I was about to suggest an AI moderation bot would probably be good at automodding those, but i’m not anxious to help dead internet theory deploy itself any faster than it already is. lol
