Since Kinetic 2024.1, MRP will reduce the supply of a part once it expires. I was wondering if anyone has seen a message in the Time Phase Inquiry where this action is displayed? If working as designed, we will certainly see a request for new supply but it would be more sustainable to see that so one could optionally pull in some orders to consume it before throwing the material away.
I haven’t seen this, but maybe this is an enhancement.
Seems neat. Maybe an option to toggle the functionality would be nice.
Logically if MRP is not counting it as supply maybe the system should go further and auto-perform an NCR on it or something.
Maybe they assume someone utilizing lot expiration dates would already have a process/report/db in place to address material that is approaching expiration?
Assume ‘Part-A’ is a lot tracked item tied to lot ‘1’, and you hold ‘100’ pieces in your inventory. The lot includes the expire date of ‘6/1/2024’. Also assume that one of your customers places a sales order for ‘50’ units of ‘Part-A’, but needs the items on ‘6/15/2024’. Therefore, two weeks pass the expire date. When you run MRP, the process would generate a purchase order suggestion for ‘50’ pieces, dismissing the current ‘100’ pieces you have in your inventory.
