We were looking to implement something where a user could press a button (or whatever) to request an inspection or to let the supervisor that they are expecting their next job as they are getting to the end of the current one, then the supervisor would have a tablet of some description and know that eg. an inspection is due on the laser cutter or whatever,

We were also thinking about a traffic light system too so anyone walking the floor can visually see red = stop, amber = inspection etc.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

This may or may not be what you guys are looking for, but, I have implemented a system here for Visual control of material flow in our plant that utilizes light stacks, and wireless Ethernet. In most cases operators initiate this by a toggle switch. All the calls and data are housed in an sql database. This system also has the ability for up to 7 or more additional inputs (think dry contact) you can hook it up to anything from a prox switch to a PLC output.

We have them hooked to several pieces of equipment, one example being the variable frequency drive on our paint line to track line utilization. So they have run charts, and a web based view of when the line is running and when it isn't. I haven't taken the next step and hooked it to vantage, yet.. But if you had service connect you could in theory turn lights on and off with labor transactions or whatever, and at a minimum if you were running 9 you could direct external baq's at the database to get machine current states... google Industrial Andons.. they have equipment but its backed by either an internal network system, or you have the option of a cloud based version as well.

Is anyone using, or know of a machine monitoring system that would tie in with Epicor for production scheduling or to view the shop floor at a glance? Thanks, Diana

I would be interested in hearing about this too.

Do the machines feed the data back or do the users?

Subject: Re: [Vantage] RE: Machine Monitoring System

We were looking to implement something where a user could press a button (or whatever) to request an inspection or to let the supervisor that they are expecting their next job as they are getting to the end of the current one, then the supervisor would have a tablet of some description and know that eg. an inspection is due on the laser cutter or whatever,

We were also thinking about a traffic light system too so anyone walking the floor can visually see red = stop, amber = inspection etc.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Subject: [Vantage] RE: Machine Monitoring System
