I just finished reading a guide that says you publish a homepage layout and then your users have to choose to use that layout.
Is there no way to deploy a homepage for all users so that they don’t have to go in and choose it?
You should be able to select a system default layout in the settings on the desktop client. I’ve never tried this but it is an option in the settings.

I see it now, I found it after I posted this thread.
I still don’t understand what the thought process was behind having to tell a user what home page to select. You should be able to publish a home page to each user group/security group…
Maybe I read the instructions too fast and that IS a possibility. I hope that’s the case.
The security is wild too for the home page, but that’s already been discussed here many times.
As far as I know you can’t assign per group, but you can assign it per user in User Account Security Maintenance:
However, I have not had good luck with this actually working properly. The system-wide default still seems to be applied.
You can also apply a default home page per company in Company Maintenance, but again, I can’t get this to work properly.
I’d be curious to hear how you choose to manage this, and how well it works for you.

Thank you Andrew, and thanks for giving me an example of how you have tried to manage it. I will try out the user by user set up as that’s pretty straightforward, I just hope it works.
What version are you on?

Okay, well that doesn’t make me feel great haha, I was hoping you were on an older version and that’s why the user specific homepages weren’t working! 
We are on 2022.1.6…
