Our schedulers have been asked the leadtime for our products and they are manually calculating this with a pen and paper and it makes me sad they are doing such a tedious process.
I have run the manufacturing lead time process and I get leadtimes of 0 or maybe 1.
My assumption is that because many of our materials or subassemblies themselves have a very short leadtime all the values are rounding to 0 days. I would expect the total cumulative time for just manufacturing to be around 3-5 days.
How would you deal with this issue? Is it better to manually calculate the leatimes and enter them in? I can do something with a baq at least to make it less terrible than one at a time.
Do you have lead times for your purchased parts, and are your BOO’s and BOMs correct? do you have a qty in the Costing Lot Size. do you allow scheduling before today ?
Do you have any move/queue time between operations? I see quite often where there might be a process that takes 3-5 days to complete your production cycle, but there’s only 1-2 hours of actual scheduled, value add time in that. The rest of the time, your WIP spends sitting, waiting for someone to to work on it next.
Are your Start and End Dates on your jobs coming out like you would expect or is this strictly related to the Mfg Lead Time Calculation? Essentially, do your job dates come out at 0 or 1 also?
