What is the best way to make mass changes to the database without using service connect? We are using 8.0. I only need to change some description fields. I have made changes using ODBC to export to Excel but I do not remember the details. Appreciate any ideas.

This question has come up a few times before - so there will be a few answers under old posts. We (I) use Mouse and Key Recorder (Kratronic.com) for our mass changes - though recently we've begun experimenting with Autohotkey. Either are completely up to the task to change bulk descriptions, though you really need someone on your team who's up to the task of writing the macros to make them failsafe (anyone with excel vb type macros experience should cope very well).
