We have a parent part (XXXX) whose Bill contains a few purchased parts AND some manufactured parts (that we make here and stock for use in parent parts or to sell to customers). Manufactured parts are not made to a job, they are always made to stock.
What is the CORRECT setting for those fields (Plan as Assembly and View as Assembly) for a purchased component on a BOM?
For a PURCHASED component, it doesn’t matter, these fields only refer to manufactured components that have a method of manufacture. Plan/View As Assembly determine how the method of that manufactured component is referred to by the upper level part. “View As Assembly” means that in the Job Tracker of the upper level part you can expand the component AS IF it were built as part of the job even though it isn’t. “Plan As Assembly” means that the component will be pulled from stock UNLESS it isn’t available, in which case a subassembly will be created.
