MfgWrk803 Temp Directory and Large "lbia" Files

PID means process ID, as in Windows Process ID. Bring up the Task Manager, select View->Select Columns... and make sure the Process ID column is showing. You can then find the process and kill it.

Subject: [Vantage] MfgWrk803 Temp Directory and Large "lbia" Files

Vantage 8.03.408A

I am currently working with support on this issue, but I thought it best to tap into this group to cover all my bases. Now, before I hear it for the 1,000+ time... it is probably a bad BAQ, Dashboard or Report ...I came back from Perspectives saying that in my sleep.

Anyway, just last night I seperated my 'mfgwrk803' folder into 'Live', 'Test', and 'Train'. So now I can at least see which items are coming from which DB. Now, looking at my 'Live' folder I have some pretty big files building. Basically, I created my new folders and changed the appropriate paths in my .pf. I then restarted everything and saw a few files load up. This seems to be common since the other two folders filled up with the same type. Now, here it comes.

The issue I am working with support is Labor Entry hanging (not all the time and not on any specific Job, Operation, or Employee). I attempted to enter labor against a known problem Job. It hung. One of the "lbia" files started to grow and has been growing overnight. It is currently over 28 GB. It was growing during a time when nobody was on line. The document that I have from support tells me to look for a 'PID' using an excessive amount of CPU. It sayst the last four digits of the "lbia" file is the 'PID' number that is stuck. They say to kill the 'PID'.

Question... where do I look for this 'PID' and how would you kill it?

Sorry for the rambling but wanted to try to paint a good picture. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Jeff
