Missing MRP job?

I am working on a scenario in TEST to try to figure out what MRP is doing in certain situations and am stuck on my base case, which I thought would be really easy…

None of the parts below has any QOH; I made them all up yesterday.

There are two top level parts, TL-001 and TL-002.

Each top level part is composed of two subassemblies:

TL-001 is composed of SUB-001-1 and SUB-002-1.
TL-002 is composed of SUB-001-1 and SUB-002-1.

SUB-001-1 is composed of SUB-004-2 and PP01

SUB-002-1, SUB-003-1, and SUB-004-2 are each composed of only purchased parts (PPxx).

Yesterday I created two orders, one for TL-001 (need by 10/31) and one for TL-002 (need by 11/30).

When MRP ran last night, I got the following:

So… I am trying to figure out:

  • Why there is only one job for SUB-001-1. There should be another one to feed into TL-002 (or the first one should have Prod. Qty = 2)

  • Why there is no job for SUB-004-2?

Anyone have any ideas?

More information…

PO Suggestions has three suggestions for PP01, which goes only into SUB-004-2 and should be needed only twice. Based on the Order By and Due dates, two are associated with TL-001 and the third with TL002.

The job was not created because in the middle-level BOM, the “pull as assembly” box was checked, even though the 004 part is not a phantom. Have unchecked it and will see what we get tomorrow.
