More FRx Questions

We are still weighing the pros and cons of FRx versus another product called F9. Although similar in price FRx has the additional cost of SQL Server. At the moment there is some confusion about what SQL Server license is required to support FRx. Epicor is now a reseller for Microsoft so has quoted SQL Server but their price is almost three times what I see at CDW. I was told we needed: SQL server 2000 with 1 processor runtime + Software Assurance. CDW has SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition with software assurance for about $970.

Those of you using FRx for financial reporting....what SQL did you buy? Was there some specific version that was required? Did you purchase it via Epicor or seperately?

Also about FRx....
Does it work for you?
Is it easy to setup or were there startup problems?
Do you have the SQL Server database on the Vantage server or some other server?
Do you run a nightly refresh of the SQL database and if so how long does it take to run?
What sort of disk space is required?
Any other comments, especially surprise "gotchas" in using FRx?

We are really gun shy about further 3rd party products for Vantage after a couple failures to perform as expected and surprises (especially VBI). We currently do all of our financial reporting via massive spreadsheets (both Lotus 1-2-3 and Excel) with data manually copied from Vantage reports and screen. Our new controller is hot to consolidate all financial info in Vantage and report directly from there. He has used F9 previously and liked it a lot but it would require expensive custom programming (at same total cost as FRx before SQL Server but subject to "error factor" risks).

Thanks for any info from experienced FRx users - especially about the SQL Server license required.
