We are having issues with MRP not creating proper move suggestions for some jobs. For example, if a make to stock job is scheduled to be completed a week before the demand it is being built for, MRP does not make a suggestion to move this out. I have checked receive time and move in/out deltas on the parts, plant, and part classes and all appear to be set properly. We have a standard 1 or 2 day receive time on all parts and nothing set on the deltas.
I put in a ticket on EpicCare and also had our consultants who are helping us with an implementation for a new company look at this and after reviewing the logs, they are both telling me this appears to be days of supply causing this. They are stating that if days of supply is 30 for example, a job that is scheduled less than 30 days early will not get a suggestion. This does not sound right to me, and this is not how this used to work for us. Most of our manufactured parts have 30 days or more in days of supply as our costs are set up to run a month or more of parts at a time and we used to have our deltas set up to eliminate the constant 1 or 2 day move out suggestions.
Has something changed with how MRP uses days of supply and now move suggestions are affected by it? If this is now used in this calculation, what is the proper way to catch jobs that need to moved out that are within the DOS window. This is a major issue for us as our customers adjust due dates by a week or so quite often and we are not catching these in time to plan properly.
