MRP Schedule Blank Title 67043

Our testing of forecasts & master scheduling (305, 403 & 404) showed both to be buggy & non-functional. Neither consume the intended demand (specific customer for forecasts or generic independent demand for master schedules).

A consultant spent a day on it while we were still piloting and he couldn't get it to work either.

...Perhaps in 405 (or 6 or 7....).

We are really struggling with MRP and how to get this to work
correctly. While we understand that MRP only creates "Suggestions"
to buy there has to be some level of confidence that it is accurate.
Our Materials Planner seems to be constantly chasing his tail trying
to make sense of the suggestions.

One of the problems that we are currently having is that we use
Forecasting. On occasion we have noticed where a Sales Order that
falls whithin the forecasted order date does not get consumed by the
corresponding Sales Order. This creates a seperate suggestion to buy
and ultimatly we end up with twice as much material as we need.

I know that our planner will sometimes run MRP multiple times (1
scheduled regen run during the evening) during any given day
depending on needs. My thinking is that if we do this MRP may get
messed up because someone could be creating a shipment, modifying a
sales order or changing a forecast. MRP could run and create 'false'
suggestions as a result. We are getting ready to meet in a few
minutes with him and our Sales Manager to try and figure out how to
handle request to place a 'hot' order that has to go out ASAP without
running MRP or possibly just running MRP with 'Net Change'
vs. 'Regen'.

Sorry for the long email but we have struggled with this for the last
8 months and have received little help other than MRP just created
suggestions and it is up to us to determine whether or not to act on
them. While this is true if we are getting suggestions to expite
something one day and without any changes split it and cancel the
next it all gets confusing.

HELP!!!
