MTO vs MTS

Where can I find out what all is involved in changing from MTO to MTS I have been testing it in test and i can’t figure out how our shipping team knows when to ship it since it does NOT show up on our inventory. Is there any place I can get step by step on how the process should flow?

You can use the scheduled shipments report for both MTO & MTS. That will give you all upcoming shipments for a period and it notes if it is coming from a job or from inventory.

If your not seeing it in inventory you need to use the “Job Receipt to Inventory” program to move it off the job and place it in stock.
If you use lot tracking the job number will be used as the lot number. It’s kinda handy for MTS with lot tracking to add to the LotNumber field in context menus to open with Job Tracker and or Job Entry.

Thank you for these suggestions. A lot of times we have a customer that wants to add more parts to their orders and we have to see what we have made in case we made extra pcs to cover it. Is there a different way to check this quickly instead of running the scheduled shipment report?

Right Click on the part number and display Time Phase. This opens up the MTS world. You should be able to tell if more were ran than needed. (Balance Column)

I just tested a subcontract part. It allowed me to ship even though I entered over the amount that I received back from the subcontractor

The part class for the part can be setup to “warn” or “stop” you from creating a negative transaction for the part.

I have parts MTO but haven’t shipped out yet. They are not showing up on the stock status report.

It’s confusing when you do both at the same time.

You need to run the Scheduled Shipments report.
