Multi-plant users?

Aha finally someone who hit the same roadblock that we did. We had to do multiple job tests before the accounting analyst and I could figure out how the account setups on the plant definitions actually panned out. Contrary to the advice we were given, the contra accounts do come into play and you have to use them to off-set the pseudo revenue and COGS created in each plant. It took us months to figure this out and we just changed up the accounts last week to see where the transactions all fall and to see if they actually auto offset each other. thanks for sharing

re: Multi-Plant

If you have a unique division number for your plants (first digits
of COA number) a multi-plant election will produce a Sales & COGS
entry between your plants regardless of whether you use standard or
average cost and regardless of whether or not the plants are in the
same company.

We have been struggling with this absurd problem for over a year
now, as our Vantage support people led us astray in the setup
process and have been promising to fix this problem since then. In
the meantime we have a large Sales & COGS elimination entry each
month.

Thought you might want to know this.

We're about to implement the multi-plant module for a new plant in
Mexico. We use 8.0 and are using standard costing. I'm interested in
getting in touch with other users that are using multi-plant with
standard costing, specifically where each plant has a different
standard cost. There seems to be a debate about the accounting for
transfer variances for parts with different standards, moving between
plants. Our auditors aren't comfortable with how Vantage recognizes
those variances as parts move back and forth and I'd like to know how
others handle the variances.
