ODBC and POFORM Error 532

Crystal (at last back at v7) comes with a nice little utility, DSX32.EXE
that will show all the DLLs a program is using. Do a search under Program
files for it. I think it only works on Win9x, however.

This is a new error for me.

On a new Windows XP Pro worksation. Vantage 5.1 is Installed correctly. ODBC (merant 3.5) is installed and connects fine. But on our POForm.rpt, (which has an ODBC table added to it) which is run from the Purchase Entry Screen, when this machine tries to print or print preview the form, we get an Error 532. I copied the three Crystall .dll's to the c:\windows\system32 folder (crpe32.dll, crpage..dll, and p2...dll). Also copied the implode.dll file to the same location because of an error message that had that file in it.

This report prints fine from all other workstations that have ODBC installed.

Anyone have a clue as to what might be going on here?

Thanks to Foster at Epicor, we came up with a solution. Installing
Crystal on the guilty XP machine allowed the report to work. Then
normally, on Win98, you can uninstall Crystal and choose to leave
shared .dll's alone and the report would continue to work. However
in XP, it does a cleaner job of uninstalling and thus uninstalled the
fix.

So, I installed Crystal and verified that the POForm was working.
Then I copied all of the files (not folders) from the System32
directory to another location. I uninstalled Crystal. Then I copied
the files back to the System32 directory, answering NO to copy over
the files that were already there (all 1930 of them). SUCCESS!

Troy,

I know it is a little bit late. I was looking into vantage one list and
found yours.
In those cases with error 532 what I do is install crystal on the machine
that's causing trouble, and uninstall it again.

Erik,
Yep, I found that is what clears things up. However, I found that on an XP PRO machine the uninstall works so cleanly that it removes the .dll's that fix the problem and the problem comes back (after uninstalling Crystal). My workaround currently is to:
1. Install Crystal
2. Copy the .dll's from c:\windows\system32 to a separate folder.
3. Uninstall Crystal
4. Copy the .dll's back to the c:\windows\system32, answering NO to replace the existing file.

This seems to work. My next task is to identify the specific .dll's that it needs and save those somewhere. With over 200+ .dll files in that folder, I haven't found a simple way of identifying which .dll's fix the problem.

Any ideas anyone has to find the mystery of which .dll files are missing... I would really appreciate your help.

Troy,

Sorry, that's my problem as well not knowing which exact dll's you need.
The workaround is the same!!!
