I have always gotten wacky results when trying to sort in Access via ODBC.
Sorry I cant offer more advice. I gave up and started importing data into
temp tables.

Subject: [Vantage] ODBC Sorting in Access
Here's a strange one for you.
I'm working on upgrading from 5.0 to 6.0. I have a number of Access
programs set up in 5.0 using the old Merant 3.6 ODBC. I'm having to
modify all of them to work with the new Progress SQL 92 ODBC driver.
I changed one of the programs that used the Invoice Header table, and
sorts it by Invoice Amount, largest to smallest. I couldn't believe
my eyes when I saw negative numbers at the top of the list. I've
been playing around with the numbers in a query, trying to make some
sense out of it, trying to get them to sort correctly. If I sort A
to Z, it looks right. Largest Negative Numbers down to smallest
negative numbers, then smallest positive numbers up to largest
positive numbers.
If I sort Z to A, I get the smallest negative numbers up to the
largest negative numbers, followed by the largest positive numbers
down to the smallest positive numbers.
Has anybody seen anything like this? Any ideas what could cause it?
The only difference between versions is the ODBC driver.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
