[Off Topic] ISO - PO Form

Your PO is NOT a part of their Document Management ! The vendor does not
have any revision control authority to your PO format.... Tell them they
are making extra work for themselves...

One of our vendors is saying they need a blank PO form from us for their ISO
documents. We are not ISO, so I'm not sure, but this seems strange to me.
Can anyone on ISO confirm if this is a valid request?

If it is normal, I don't even know how I could get a blank one, short of
manually removing all the data from the form.

In the last three companies I've worked for that were ISO certified,
I've never been asked to provide that. What is the purpose? If it is
for an audit, they should be able to use any PO you've given them
(doesn't have to be blank). You are right it does sound odd.

We are ISO-9001 registered and this makes no sense to me.

However, a "trick" that I have used in the past was to ask an approved source for a copy of a QA manual, forms, etc. for some official reason (but in fact it was for me to get "ideas").

It is probably innocent, but I would inquire further.

I won't claim to be an ISO expert even though we are certified. But, I
can't think of any reason they would need a blank PO form.

We are QS9000 Certified and according to the standards manual there is no
requirement that requires you to provide that sort of document to a vendor.
However, they may have internal procedures that require a copy of such. We
have never been asked to provide such a thing, particularly from a vendor.

We are ISO and this has never come up for us to have to get blank POs from
our customers. The only thing I can think of is they may want a copy of the
"terms and conditions" that you require, which may be printed on a PO form
(usually on the back). This could be a factor in their procedures for
dealing with you. But being the customer if I did not feel real comfortable
and if they were not one of my key suppliers I would be inclined to
respectfully decline their request. What are they going to do, prohibit you
from buying from them?
