Windoze & the Pc hardware are always able to intercept it. It prevents
someone from programming a screen to mimic the windoze login and capture
ids & passwords.

In most business environments, that's probably the least of your security
worries. In a college PC lab, it's a good idea.

Does anyone know how to tweak Win-XP to alter the "Control-Alt-Delete"
signon combo?

I have a new user who had a stroke a few years back and can only use 1 hand.

Go to Control panel, User Accounts, click on the Advanced tab, and then
uncheck the Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

To Enable or Disable the CTRL+ALT+DELETE Sequence

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. In the "Secure logon" section, select or clear the "Require users to
press Ctrl+Alt+Delete" check box

You can also use a keyboard shortcut. Program the F12 key to be the
keyboard combination of Cntrl-Alt-Dlt

A few more options.
1. If the person is right-hand able then the normal three finger salute would work. If left hand able like my wife (right arm not functional, similar to stroke) then, like she does, you can use left hand in a sort of upside down arrangement of thumb-Alt, pointer finger-Ctrl and index finger Delete. If only loging in once a day it is not too bad.

2. Get a cheap scanner and bar code Ctrl-Alt-Del and let the keyboard interface do its normal thing?

3. Find a key remap utility and remap those keys to three adjacent keys that as easy to get to but unlikely to affect usage - like Ctrl-Alt-~ (tilde)

Todd,

Another option is a fingerprint scanner. We use digital persona's U r U
professional internally. It not only stores our network login, but logins
and passwords for all apps, web pages, etc... It runs $149 for the scanner
and the software.
