[off topic] Registry problems

I had a similar problem caused by cleansweep from norton. I watches over
the registery to keep track of what goes in. I shutdown the programs and
the problem went away.

Just a thought.

I'm trying to install a piece of PPP over ethernet (WinPoEt) for a DSL
connection on a machine with Windows 98 first edition. The installation
program will start and after verifying the link is there, will give the
message "Unable to read registry entries. Program will now terminate" and
then exits the setup program. Anybody ever come upon something like this?
I tried reinstalling 98 which didn't help. I also checked to make sure the
registry files weren't read-only as well. The software installed just fine
on another similar machine with 98 1st edition, same anti-virus, etc.

Thanks,

Rick
