Operations

Hi,
we have numerous parts that after we produce them they have to be packaged in bags. Some need tumbling and some need sorting. Is the best way to track this is to create operations for each process?
If so how do we track them or is there a way to see what is all at that operation?

Generally speaking, any physical process that needs to be scheduled (because it uses finitely available resources), or that you wish to track the cost (Cost of Goods Mfg) of, must be an operation and have resources associated with them.

You can add both operations to a MOM and have rules (based or previous operations or part #'s) that determine which process, or both, are required on a given Job.

This typically is done via a WIP report. There are some canned reports in the system, but most folks create their own variation to suit their needs.
