[OT] Create Intranet Webpage to Update SQL Table

Any vanilla web-page app that can communicate with SQL server would be fine. I have found MS Visual Studio by far the easiest and most powerful thus far. Version 2008 (professional) has some truly amazing wizards/templates for data extraction and manipulation. SQL server and IIS permissions are a bit tricky (still trying to work thru those) though.

I need to create an internal webpage that our engineers can access so
they can fill out a "Work Log" on a Vantage UD Table for internal
Vantage reporting purposes.

I need to circumvent using Vantage because of licensing issues. We have
75 engineers and I don't want to use Vantage just to do one small task.

Anyone have any input/advice on what is the easiest way to do this?

Already running IIS and I have a good programming background, but I've
just never had to create a webpage to interact with a MS SQL database
and tables.

Any kick in the right direction would be much appreciated. Thanks in
advance.
