Calvin,

We have a whole department dedicated to DR. The people that work in the department are phenomenal with how they go about preparing for a disaster situation. In fact, us other IT areas get annoyed with them sometimes because they are really watching our back to make sure that we document everything. heehee! But, the department is thorough and very good with documentation. One of the major DR things that we have to do is a total set up of a major application in another area (Chicago, Farmington Hills, Saginaw, etc.) as if the buildings burned down and get it running again with user access as well. I think we do this monthly.

One of the guys in the department is more than willing to talk with you if you want. He's one of those individuals who has great people skills as well! Just email me and I'll give you his contact info.

I'm also in the process of trying to come up with an IT disaster plan. And
would like to see what others have found successful. This is a pretty
universal topic.
