OT: Dual Booting DOS & W2K

Not sure if this would be compatible with the DOS QC software but...
Could you perhaps install Win2K without NTFS and instead use FAT32 and then when they need to boot to DOS have them inserty a DOS based emergency boot diskette. They would till have access to the hard drive files to run the QC software in DOS mode. Then when done remove the diskette and reboot back to Win2K. Might take some tweaking on the boot diskette for old DOS specific memory settings.

I have a machine that is on some test equipment running DOS that has died
It belongs to our QC dept. They have a Windows based software package they
want to put on the floor
I thought I could replace this 486 with my spare Pentium III and load DOS &
Windows 2000 Pro on it
That way I can satisfy both requests

Any one had success doing this?

I know there is software out there to do this but my whole idea is to use my
labor and spend no $$
Management is really tightening the belt around here on EVERYTHING

All you need to do is setup DOS on the computer first and then install
Windows 2000 Pro. W2K will see that DOS is there and create a menu item for
it during boot up. Are you sure that your DOS program can't run from inside
W2K? Most of the test equipment I've seen uses serial ports for
communications and W2K will allow that easily.
