[OT] Exchange 2000 Address Books

Thanks, would be nice but in this case they are scattered all over the place and some of that info is wrong. It will all be checked and adidtional info entered to make this Contact list the "gold standard" for this group of contacts. So it will be worth manually entering and verifying along the way. I also set it up so only one person (besides me) can add or change the info. Everyone else is read only.

I may be jumping in a little late here, I just wanted to add that the
Contacts folder allows importing from a variety of formats and it may
assist in the entry of "100 of so contacts".

Have a great weekend!!

Thank you very much Patrick. I was trying to do all this from the
server end. This is working very well now and I have someone entering
the 100 or so contacts. Now the hard part...teaching Sales people how
to use it. ;) And I like the idea about the other shared types of
folders.

Todd,

I created shared CONTACT folders for different departments under "All
Public
Folders" for Purchasing, Sales, Shipping & Engineering. The used the
permissions on the folder to set up viewers and editors. I also created
calendars for our conference rooms, employee vacations and the company
car.
Everyone can view the calendars, generally there is only a hand full of
people that reserve time for the meeting rooms and car.

Before I waste another half day on this maybe I should ask the experts.
I have created a new address book on our Exchange 2000 Server, under the
All
Address Lists folder, called 'RepContacts'. I set the security on it so
that I am included in the list with full control. I also have full
control
at the 'All Addres Lists' level. When I try, from Outlook 2000 at my
desk(after ading it to the addressing screen), to add a contact and "Put
this entry in.." the 'RepContacts' address book it tells me "You can not
create entries for this address book." But leaves no clue why not.

Perhaps I am going about this all wrong. What I am trying to do is make
a
shared address book which will contain contact info for all of our
independent sales reps. All of our internal sales people will be able
to
add/change/delete reps but in particular use them in email messages.

Any pointers in the right direction or advice about how to set up such a
shared contact list would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Todd Caughey
