The following is the full job description:





Position Summary



The Business Applications Manager is responsible for leading efforts in
selection, implementation, training, reporting and improving system
utilization of Cold Jet's business software. Additionally, manage the
MIS (management information systems) staff.



Position Responsibilities



System Selection



* Assist key end users in the identification and articulation of
the business problems to be solved.
* Research and evaluate the pros and cons of alternative
solutions/software systems.
* Develop business cases to justify the capital cost and related
expenses.
* Negotiate the best pricing and terms with the preferred
provider(s).



System Implementation



* Develop comprehensive project plan to implement systems in a
timely manner with minimal problems and delays.
* Work with other affected departments to ensure their
representation, input and participation on implementation teams.
* Manage all aspects of the project to ensure the project stays on
budget and on time.
* Ensure testing is sufficient to ensure that implementation
occurs with minimal disruption to operating departments.
* Write or facilitate the creation of clear and comprehensive
procedures on how to perform key functions within the application.
* Ensure that training occurs in advance of the go-live date to
ensure users are confident and competent in using the applications and
following the relevant procedures.



Training



* Train all users of new software applications as per the prior
section.
* Ensure new employees are trained on applications they use to
perform their duties effectively and efficiently. This may be direct
training or training done by other department members or in a "train the
trainer" manner.
* Provide additional, on-going training as requested or as needed
from observed deficiencies.



Reporting



* Train others to write reports if appropriate.
* Write reports for others as needed or as requested if it does
not make sense to train the person to do it themselves.
* Work with others to ensure that important information is
extracted and presented in a clear and insightful manner to make more
informed business decisions.



Improving System Utilization



* Ensure business systems are maintained with current releases.
* Investigate functionality of our business systems that are not
being used or that are being underutilized and assist users to take
advantage of this functionality.



Managing MIS Department



* Recommend, justify and budget for proposed software, hardware
and related systems each year.
* Recruit, hire, manage and retain other MIS staff to ensure they
are knowledgeable, helpful, motivated and productive.
* Represent the Business Applications/MIS department on the
management team.





Position Requirements



Education & Experience



* BS degree in business, operations or management information
systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience

* Five or more years of experience leading a manufacturing or
assembly MIS department, including hardware and software maintenance.



Skill Competencies



* Extensive experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
systems.

* Knowledgeable of accounting, engineering, sales, marketing,
purchasing, costing, inventory control and shipping/receiving processes
is preferred.

* Ability to present to senior management and Board of Directors.

* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

* Exceptional project management skills.

* Strong ability and interest in providing training.

* Computer literate with experience in Excel, Word, and
PowerPoint.
