OT - Moving Files to new W2K Server

Thanks for the reply. I have tested moving all of my user files to the new
server using backup exec and it seems to work fine. I believe that doing it
that way will be the easiest. If anyone has other comments about doing this
I would like to hear them.

I used xcopy to do exactly what you are doing. Worked with out a
problem. I had it write at log to a text file incase something
happened. If I remember there was an /o parameter, but I forget.
One switch had to be use to keep permissions.

The cheapest way to accomplish this would be to use the NT Backup and then
restore the backup to your W2K server. This will retain all of your
permissions. If you want to use scopy, then look at this web site.

don't worry about moving the files with scopy, just copy them and then
delete them off of the source drive.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Ted,
I figured that might be a solution as well. I use Backup Exec with a
DLT IV drive. I guess that will be the best route to take. I have
never attemped this before and was not sure the best route.

Thanks for your input.

Jim
