[OT] Power to PCs

We are using APC server grade batteries. That is what we had before. They
just didn't provide enough protection for what happened.

The problem with the cheaper PC batteries is they do not "Trim" voltage like
our server systems. We have a couple powerware 9125s for the servers.

In our office for some time we have an on and off problem with our battery backups going into battery mode. I check the outlets and they are putting out 127.5V I cannot change the thresshold in the UPS. What are the chances of overvoltage damage if I just plug them into a surge protector? Our maintainence manager says it is a problem with the backups not the power. I have people sitting with dead pcs since the batteries are totally drained & there is not consistent good power to recharge them.
Is 127.5 way to high?
I would use a surge protector and a battery. The battery backup devices
(even the ones that have the plugs that say surge / battery) don't provide
much of a surge protection. I told my boss for several weeks that is how I
wanted the servers set up. He said thank you and ignored the suggestion.
One day the maintenance department spiked the wrong set of wires. We spent
the next day rebuilding our Vantage server. All of ours are setup that way
now.

Those are just my thoughts and experiences, you mileage may vary.
