From what I've heard Roadrunner is really fast for accessing the
internet and bringing files in but for outbound activities it lags.
Any comments regarding this issue?

Is anyone using Roadrunner Business Class? I have heard mixed reviews
and would value anyone's input. We are going to setup a VPN and need
to upgrade from our ISDN line. DSL is not available to our location.
We first signed up for it in the summer of '98......about $399/month back then. I have approx. 120 internet users. RR Business has been very reliable and is plenty fast
for our needs.

We are using RR business class cable modem in Tampa. We are using it only
because of the cost of a dedicated line. The users in Tampa are fine with
web browsing and email but we host a small (low volume) terminal server
through it and the lag is inconsistent enough that at times we can't stay
connected for a minute and other times we are on for hours. As long as it
isn't a critical resource you'll probably be fine.

My $.02 anyhow.

We have been using Road Runner Business Class for about one year now. As
luck would have it, it was down off and on for several hours yesterday.
This is only the second time in a year it has been down and the last time
was for just minutes. It is the most cost effective wide band service I
think you can get. I have been very satisfied with it.

I've heard good things about the residential service from two family
members that have it. One gets pretty consistent 750Mbs and the other
1800Mbs (wow!) Don't know how different the business service is.

Be sure to ask questions about usage policies. With the residential
service they are often MAJOR JERKS about what you're allowed to hook up and
use. eg: one PC only, NO NAT routers, no wireless to your neighbor's
house, no servers (including some multi player games that open a port, and
personal web or ftp servers), no operating systems not on their approved
list, etc. I imagine the business service allows more freedom, but check
first!

On the other hand, local telcos offering DSL usually don't care what you do
with it -- as it should be IMO. They sell you a pipe and bandwidth to use
as you wish. My home DSL from BellSouth has been reliable for 6 months and
gets 1550Mbs.

If DSL was available, I'd go for that. But if cable is the only option
(other than expensive T1) try it out!

It depends on the speed you pay for. I am guaranteed 256k up and 1.5 meg
down. I usually see 6.5 meg coming down.
