Has anyone done an import from text files (.CSV) to create Vantage
Sales Orders?

We set up a small website so that one corporate customer can use to
order frequently used parts. They have locations in 30 states, and
wanted to short circut the ordering system. Long story short we are
currently entering the orders directly in vantage sales order entry
and need to cut down entry time. The web host can give us a CSV
with all the particulars in it, and even segment the orders
into 'head' and 'detail'records with relational keys. I am just
starting to use the ProVision+ AppBuilder interface so I'm pretty
green at it so far. My big worry is "Which tables are hit when you
do a sales order, and which data items are written there. Obviously
OrderHed and OrderDtl, but when do allocations go in, and which
other files?

Any and all help is appreciated.

James
The EDI module does this.

I know but this is a little tiny piece of EDI, only one customer,
and the margin on these parts is very low. So the CFO won't spring
for an EDI module license.

Try Ground Control or look into other windows macro utilities. Ground
Control can read a text file, when tweaked it can speed up repetitive data
entry functions.

If you decide for EDI, I have an access database that connects to Vantage
using ODBC to verify customer (only on 5.1), part, ship to, ship via, etc
needed to create an 850 (invoice). I also had good experience with ground
control.
