OT - Servers' Memory Leaks

McAfee support (?) says no memory or CPU issues with 70. We'll find out
tomorrow morning. -Gary

Robert,

That makes sense. McAfee Framework Service is on of my 3 McAfee services
running. I tried stopping the services before w/o restarting - didn't help.
Nothing shows up for a specific task in task manager, but it shows nearly
all the physical memory gone. The restarts yesterday restored the memory,
but today the leaks are back. This morning I disabled all 3 McAfee
services, then restarted all my servers, hoping to narrow it down to that.
I guess I'll get started changing every one of the workstations to get their
McAfee updates from the McAfee website.

Next year when McAfee wants my money, I'll be sure to fill them in as
colorfully as I can on why I'm no longer be using their product. This is
the last straw. I've had nothing but bugs and obstacles for the past 3
years with them. Time to make the switch to something more reliable and
user-friendly, I guess.

Gary

Hi Gary,

I haven't seen this with Enterprise 70 but I have seen this problem with
part of the epo agent. In my system it's called "McAfee Framework Service".
I've seen it eating as much as 95% of cpu resources in task manager.
disable it until you can re-boot. It doesn't disable virus checking, just
updating. I've tried to just stop then start the service but it doesn't
seem to help.

I don't know if this helps.

Morning. Anyone using McAfee Enterprise 70 on their servers notice memory
leaks and hi CPU usage resulting in your servers' speed dragging down? I
just put McAfee 70 on the servers a few of weeks ago and didn't notice any
problems. And have just had a new Powerquest V2i HD backup system
installed. In the past, I have had problems with McAfee and DriveImage
conflicting on the workstations unless installed in a specific order.
According to my consultant, V2i is running peacefully on other networks.
Only mine has the memory leaks. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks in advance,
Gary Polvinale
