[OT] Spool32 printing problems

I installed some new network printers and experienced the same error
occasionally after that on Win98se machines only. I fould a
suggestion on another website to replace the spoolss.dll with the
spoolss.dll from WinME. I had five machines with errors before the
file switch and zero after.

Make sure to rename your Win98 spoolss.dll before overwriting it. :~)

trouble printing. Once it has the spool32 issue it won't print
again until it has been booted. Also, if you look in the printers
list after an error no printers are listed.

that it errors out most often when printing thru another PC that is
sharing a printer. Possible mismatch in version of spool32?

I have long running and persistent problems with PCs printing via other PCs and getting Spool32 errors in Kernel32.dll (Windows 98se). I see these every so often on a PC (all others work fine) but it seems like once it starts happening it has nothing but trouble printing. Once it has the spool32 issue it won't print again until it has been booted. Also, if you look in the printers list after an error no printers are listed.

I have double checked the drivers and even reinstalled on occasion but nothing seems to help. Even reloaded Windows-98 but it still happens at least 4-5 times a day. Any ideas what to try next would be appreciated. Eventually I'll get us all to Win2K but not before the end of the year and in the shop (where current problem PC is) last.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but I never got this problem fixed on
a Win98se machine. Started when we added the 5.2 client for training
purposes to PC that were on 5.1. Re-installing things helped but the
problem resurfaced over time. I finally upgraded to XP. I tried every
suggestion I could get from the list and nothing helped in the long run so I
bit the bullet and upgraded.

I have long running and persistent problems with PCs printing via other PCs
and getting Spool32 errors in Kernel32.dll (Windows 98se). I see these
every so often on a PC (all others work fine) but it seems like once it
starts happening it has nothing but trouble printing. Once it has the
spool32 issue it won't print again until it has been booted. Also, if you
look in the printers list after an error no printers are listed.

I have double checked the drivers and even reinstalled on occasion but
nothing seems to help. Even reloaded Windows-98 but it still happens at
least 4-5 times a day. Only common thread seems to be that it errors out
most often when printing thru another PC that is sharing a printer.
Possible mismatch in version of spool32?

Any ideas what to try next would be appreciated. Eventually I'll get us all
to Win2K but not before the end of the year and in the shop (where current
problem PC is) last.
