OT: UPDATE - Shutting down server in the event of a power fail

What about configuring Wake On LAN and making a call to wake it up remotely?
Again never tested but just tossing out an idea.

power failure

Talked with a high level tech support technician at Dell today
They said Dell took that feature out of their servers because too many
times
it is related to the same area as Hibernate
People were telling their servers to hibernate and then users could not
access them
So they took that feature out

So basically if we get a power outage for more than an hour
(Midwest storm season remember)
Someone (Wonder who that will be at 5:30AM?) has to physically come in
and
push the power button on my server now!

This is not making me happy in the least bit

I could get a battery unit that would last a long time?

But we just cut 13 more people this past week due to lack of business
Thus management will never okay purchasing a high end battery unit

This is not good
Maybe Dell will take their server back so I can go build my own!

Uhhh, good luck on the Dell taking a return thing......not
too likely in my experience.
