Part Revision control

@rppmorris , sorry if I missed it, but are you trying it in the client or the web? And what version are you trying this in?

Hi @jkane,

Kinetic 2024.2.9 - I’ve tried on both client and web but my CAM advised me I need to pay for this functionality.

I could have sworn it was standard functionality. What module are they saying you need to get?

What errors are you receiving when you try?

I’ve been advised that Planning by Revision is a licenced module.

The odd thing for me on this enhancement.

I would propose this is standard / basic functionality that was missing from Epicor. Therefore, because it is so elementary I’m surprised that Epicor have even considered charging for it.

But when you business vision and strategy is get a PO, then I understand.

This has come up before. It is definitely a module:

I can’t find the post right now, but I remember hearing the same sentiment.

Epicor has so many strengths - the software is functionally rich, the future roadmap is defined, the user community is active and strong.

And then you’ve got corporate.

As with most large entities, they forget the user base is their life blood.

Classing ā€œPlanningByRevisionā€ as a module is absolutely ridiculous in an ERP System touted as being a world leader in the Manufacturing space.

Ironically, I’m not seeking this functionality for myself. It is for a Customer who went live last year on the back of my recommendations and multiple site visits. I’m embarrased to go back and advise this is being bundled as a module and must be paid for seperately.

I spoke with some Epicor consultants this morning both Epicor staff and independents. I also spoke with a VAR.

All share my sentiments on this stance by Epicor classing this ā€œenhancementā€ as an additional module that must be paid for.

  1. Embarrassing
  2. Out of touch with Customer base
  3. Fitting with the current ā€˜corporate’ strategy - get a PO for everything.

Promoting Epicor as functionally the best fit for Manufacturing then selling Revision Control as an add-on…laughable.

Hopefully when CD&R exit we’ll see a change in behavior.
