PCID - Make Direct - Trouble adding to Customer Shipment Entry

We are 90% Make Direct Company. We want to use Customer Shipment entry to ship a PCID for MAKE DIRECT. We are able to use the PCID in Make to Stock and want the Make Direct to act the same way. It looks like there is a missing process in Epicor to do this.

Has anyone made a customization to make both these item type act the same in Customer Shipment Entry??

I don’t do make direct, so I’m not too sure what’s missing, if you could explain or show me what your screen looks like I can probably throw you some test code that may can answer if it’ll work.

The WIP PCID is NEVER VALID in the Customer Shipment Entry. Always get an error. It looks like it is in a different table than the MTS PCID.

I don’t think you can ship from a wip pcid.

I agree - we are convinced that the WIP PCID cannot be shipped.
Does anyone know WHY Epicor did not add this ability?

Did anyone try to write a customization to do this - themselves?

Is there any reason you can’t receive the wip pcid into inventory and then ship it?

If you’re shipping from a job, you only have 1 part number to ship, so it kind of defeats the purpose of PCID’s. What is it that you need the PCID to do?

Make Direct never hits inventory, so you cannot use a PCID for shipping from a Job.

That could work but we were going to label the PCID with the Customer Order Number when produced -so it is order specific.

From our understanding - once in Inventory - ANY ORDER can see it in Inventory. How do you get the PCID ALLOCATED right away to the Make Direct Line on the Order?

What are you using to print labels? I think it would be easier to make a label on job operation completion. I can’t remember for sure, but I thought there was an option to print labels from there.

If it were me, I would use bartender and a BPM to print the labels. PCID brings in a whole bunch of complexity that you probably don’t want to deal with if you don’t have to (speaking from experience here)

You could customize it to do it in one shot, pull it into inventory, and then add it.

After some talking with @josecgomez , this should be possible. Are you on the current version?

As of 2022.2 you can it seems

What version are you on?

We make cabinets - Order Order might be for a Base Cabinet, Wall Cabinet and Tall Cabinet. 1 each. We want to package all 3 cabinets on 1 SKID and then have the Picker find the PCID to load on the truck - We do not want the picker looking for different items on a SKID. We were able to get 3 different items on 1 PCID.
We just purchases Epicor 6 months ago and have been messing with PCID for 3 months. I think thye oversold the PCID functionality to us - since we are 90% Make Direct…

Is this 3 different jobs? (mostly curious how that works)

What error are you getting?

We found this article also, that is why we have been working on it for 3 months - we have had NO Success. We did COMPLETE the Make Direct Job but Customer Shipment Entry would NEVER find the PCID - the Message says:
“You cannot pack this PCID unless it is picked or have a statue of STOCK”

We have found there are 2 sets of tables for PCID’s:

Make to Stock go to PKGControlHeader link to PKGControlItem and have a status of “STOCK”

Make Direct go to PKGControlStageHeader link to PKGControlStageItem and have a status of “STAGE”

We are thinking EPICOR did not finish the programming to look at the Make Direct PCID Files when the item was Make Direct.

Error is:
“You cannot pack this PCID unless it is picked or has a status of STOCK.”

I would agree that this is a common theme with this module… unfortunately.

But, can you you pick the PCID first?
