I am wondering if anyone knows how pending inspections effect the GL. Accounting came to me today asking for a list of users that have access to the GL general operations, because they have been finding changes to the GL after the period is closed. The changes are hitting the inventory and materials accounts. Its been a while since I have worked in quality but I do remember the Controller at my previous employer asking me to process pending inspections prior to the month being closed. any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

-Phil

Inspections hit the Inspections account under the COS/WIP GL control. When put into the inspection queue –WIP/+GL Acct. When removed from inspection –GL acct/+Destination Acct (Inventory, DMR, etc).
If the GL Apply Date is current for the inventory module, there should be no backdating of the G/L transactions when captured.

The changes are also hitting AP. When you mention GL
Apply Date is current is this the “Use current date when matching GL
transactions” check box  under General
Ledger in the Company Configuration?

No Earliest Apply Date. Check to make sure the Inventory Earliest Apply date is current.

Ok I looked and the only date in the Earliest Apply Date Entry is a date for the company that looks like it is from our go live period. There is nothing for the Per Module / Transaction Type setup. If I understand correctly since the company date is not current and we have nothing setup on the Module, if a part was received in June and inspected today it would hit the GL for June not March?

The receipt would hit June (I am assuming 2014) but the inspection would hit April (Inspected Today). Unless the Earliest Apply Date was 03/01. In that case when the capture was done, and assuming the outdated transactions were rolled to the month of capture, the the receipt would hit March and the Inspection would hit April.

Double check using your INV-WIP Reconciliation report. After each capture run it for any un-posted transactions (starting at 01/01/01 through the end of the posting period) and verify that everything got posted.
