Perform searches by Part description

Yes, there is a limited search function available when searching by
description while looking for parts, jobs, sales orders, quotes,
etc. However, in various other database systems I have used you can
also search for characters within a word such as typing '*put* when
looking for computer. You can not do this in Vantage. Your choices
are to type 'computer' or 'comp*'. I find their search functionality
not very good.

I have been able to create my own custom dashboards with better
search-by-description functionality by applying customization on my
search field and setting the DASHBOARD CONDITION as MATCHES.

I created an enhancement request to have Epicor apply similar
technology to the search-by-description fields for all searches in
the software. You are invited to pile on to enhancement request

Many Search menus allow you to search for "Part Description Contain"
for example. I figured out how to "OR" items, simply seperate your
details with a carrige return like;
cap
1206
33uf

However, I have yet to figure out how to "AND" a string, and seach
with wildcards like "cap&1206&33uf", where I could have any other
character between the "cap" and "1206" and "33uf".

Any Ideas?
Found it in help, and it works -
Where Part Description Contains
To further narrow your search, enter words from the part description
in this text area. All parts with any words in their descriptions that
match the words you enter appear in the search results.

Some rules concerning the part description search follow:

Words are not case-sensitive.

To search for a partial character string, use the global character "
* " (asterisk) at the end of the search text. This lets you restrict
the search to display results that start with a similar description.

To search for a combination of words, enter them on the same line
separated by spaces.

To search for several words, enter them on separate lines.

Example 1: Entering STEEL will find a part with a description of
Steel, steel or STEEL.

Example 2: Enter Sh* to list all parts with any descriptions where
words begin with Sh.

Example 3: Enter Sheet Steel to display all parts with both Sheet and
Steel in the description
