Kinetic - Americas Customers are scheduled for Pilot Emergency maintenance of Nginx for Windows instances update on:
From: Wednesday, March 4, 7:00 pm Local Datacenter Time
To: Wednesday, March 4, 9:00 pm Local Datacenter Time
Your Pilot / Additional systems will be unavailable for a short period of time.
An all-clear message will be posted when the update has been completed. Please plan accordingly.
I note that this does not state Flex, non Flex, Govt. Cloud, Enterprise, Partner-Hosted, etc. - So I would infer that this includes everyone. Probably, only Flex are the ones left with Pilot not on Linux. But, again… I am left to infer that.
How do folks that are 2nd shift handle this? Most IT departments leave and 2 hours is a long time for MES for example to be down?
If something like this happens on-prem because we only deal with a smaller scale, we handle fixes in minutes, lets say 15 minutes, or we can decide to do it at 3:00 AM, or an upcoming Holiday.
The problem with SaaS is you dont get to decide the time to the minute @jgiese.wci
Apparently tonight’s Nginx maintenance is also a prep for the Linux migration…at least that’s what this morning’s email says.
Upcoming Brief Maintenance Window to Support Linux Migration
We recognize that you’ve experienced more maintenance windows than usual recently, and we want to begin by sincerely thanking you for your patience and continued partnership. As part of our ongoing work to strengthen platform reliability and prepare for our upcoming Linux migration, we need to complete a small, targeted backend networking change. This change requires a brief maintenance window, but it is an important step in ensuring a smoother, more stable migration with fewer disruptions going forward.
What to Expect
** Pilot Update*
Wednesday, March 4, 7:00 - 9:00 PM Local Datacenter Time
** Production Update*
Saturday, March 7, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM Local Datacenter Time
Your system will be unavailable for the stated period at these times. An all-clear message will be posted when the update has been completed. Please plan accordingly.
We understand the frustration that repeated notifications can cause. Our intent is to complete this work now to reduce the number and duration of future maintenance windows, particularly as we approach the migration itself.
I was going to post something about how that really should have been in the original communication so we don’t get an anxiety attack at the mere mention of another emergency maintenance.. something something communication order which was specifically mentioned just.. last week.. but.. i’m tired boss
Haso - tonight’s upgrade is only to Pilot and not LIVE. LIVE’s upgrade is on Saturday. So tonight there should not be any interruption to Production.
